Published Date: 30 March 2010
Beleaguered Luton South MP Margaret Moran has suffered further embarrassment this week with claims she chaired a Parliamentary group that acted as a private company helping lobby on behalf of big businesses.
The Mail on Sunday alleged the shamed MP 'boasted' about her involvement with the company during unseen footage filmed for the Channel 4 Dispatches programme broadcast last Monday night.
It says all-party Parliamentary group EURIM, which is registered as a private company, was chaired by Ms Moran and receives more than £120,000 a year in payments from 'corporate members' that include BT, IBM and Vodafone.
Ms Moran, the paper says, went on 'all expenses paid junkets' to Washington and Rio de Janeiro, funded by EURIM.
And in the unseen footage, it says, the MP said she helped delay the introduction of the 'e-Borders' scheme, an anti-terrorist computer system linked to airline ticketing networks, and had 'changed' the immigration points system so that firms could continue to employ workers from abroad on short-term contracts.
