NHS open to hackers
Not online
So Scottish NHS is to be the first paperless health service in the world (News, June 21). That’s the good news. The bad news is that Scotland will also thereby become the first health service in the world to abandon doctor-patient confidentiality.
As is now common knowledge the systematic centralisation of confidential personal information provides a honeypot for every computer hacker and identity thief worldwide.
Is there any chance that I shall be able to opt out of this new Panasonic Healthcare-approved paperless arrangement? For after all, data about me ultimately belongs to me and nobody else on earth.
Therefore, Scottish NHS will surely be providing everyone with an opt-out? Oh no of course they won’t. We’re only the patients.
I submitted this in response to this article. _________________ John

Even worse is the insistence upon using wireless technology in an effort to be seen to embracing technology.
As any IT geek/Tech will be able to tell you wireless / radio transmissions are inherently insecure and shouldnt be used for the transmission of any kind of sensitive data.
Its a sad day indeed. _________________ Be nice until its time not to be nice!
