BBC News: Trust loses 18,000 staff records
Monday 15 September 2008
| Quote: | | “Whittington Hospital NHS Trust admitted the discs were lost when they were put in the post by mistake in late July. The discs contain names, addresses, dates of birth and National Insurance numbers, of 17,990 staff members.” |
On the plus side, they weren’t patient records!!!
Does lossing NHS data, really qualify as news, more like old news, everday news!
| Quote: | | “In a statement, the hospital said the four discs were password protected and did not contain bank account details. An investigation is underway.” |
‘Password protected’, is the new NHS mantra. |

| Quote: | The latest data loss comes after the theft of six laptops from St George's Hospital, in Tooting, south London, in June.
The laptops, containing information about around 20,000 patients including 3,000 children, were stolen from a locked cabinet in an office in the teaching hospital between June 6 and June 9.
In December, eight NHS trusts in England admitted losing 68,000 patient details in total, with another trust admitting it had lost staff details.
The revelation led both the Conservatives and the Liberal Democrats to call on the Government to scrap its planned electronic database of 50 million patient records in England. |
