Ken supports ID cards, whilst admitting they won't help in the fight against terrorism they will help in fighting low level crime.
As Labour are continually adding stupid petty laws to the statute book, we're all going to need those ID cards now aren't we after the public are criminalised for some reason or another! |

That's an entirely new one. And utterly barking. Maybe he thinks it will stop young people buying glue and kitchen knives, which are crimes these days. If he means it might stop fights, thefts or vandalism, I'd just love to know how. _________________ Guy Herbert

Does anyone else have the suspicion he may mean littering, dog fouling, public drunkeness and other fineable offences?
More work for the private companies enforcing the charges. |

Ken Livingstone is absolute proof that ultimate power can corrupt an individuals original beliefs - he used to be a left winger and a thorn in New Labour's side.
Now it appears he is New Labour's poodle - "woof, woof, that's a good boy Ken". |

I didn't get to see the interview, which is just as well as it probably wouldn't have done my blood pressure any good.
Did Andrew Marr do what a good interviewer should do and ask Mr Livingstone for some evidence for his assertion? |

It is always frustrating seeing Marr interviews. One finds oneself shouting the questions, that he SHOULD be asking, at the television.
No, he never followed up those assertions. And he let Livingstone get away with all that stuff about making London safe, without asking him about how Blair acted after the shooting. |

I don't know what it is about that Sunday morning current affairs slot. They get experienced, tough interviewers like David Frost and Andrew Marr and within a very short time they have been tamed and only manage to feed their interviewees nice, soft questions.

I think this has to do with the perception of this Sunday show as the interviewees turn up as guests in an informal relaxed Sunday feel atmosphere - you know "lets have a look at the papers now" style.
Perhaps the Beeb feel that Sunday viewers don't want aggression on this particular day.
It should be balanced with a more aggressive style programme later on in the day or earlier in the week - but then would our super sensitive politicians turn up?
The other thing is I don't care for Marr as an interviewer as he gets too entangled in his own self proclaimed academic prowess and can confuse everyone watching or listening - the Beeb could do to find some hard hitting interrogators for the sake of our sanity and democracy. |
