I know this sounds like a really stupid question, but it could be a good PR stunt - can you patent your DNA, as it is unique?

Unfortunately it's not unique. The majority if your DNA is identical to everyone else's. Even the (DNA) fingerprint is not truly unique (if I remember my lectures from Alec Jeffreys correctly).
