with all our data from ID-NIR, the NHS etc to be sold on to whoever wants it, I think we UK citizens are being privatised. But my ex-boss argues we're being nationalised. Any views?

Nationalised industries still had a commodity to sell.

So we're being nationalised in order to then be privatised? The funny thing is, we have to PAY for this. How come I'm having to PAY to be nationalised? And why won't I profit from it or my own privatisation?

Do you reckon we're going to have some kind of 'Tell Sid' campaign when we're sold off?

It is not a whimsical question at all. My vote would be for "nationalised", since the use of identification is being brought under unique government control. The only place you will lawfully be able to get an identity, which is to say a license to be a person, if the Transformational Government agenda comes to pass, is the national government.

The imposition of state ownership or control over previously private activity or institutions is one of the most generally accepted definitions of 'nationalisation', and the creation of a state monopoly where formerly there was private or mixed provision is another. This fulfils both criteria.

Mmmmm idea

Future advert/leaflet: Mocked up newpaper showing headline "Shock: Government moves to nationalise private lives"

Oh... and put a few people on the pavement shouting out "read all about it" would add a nice touch for those handing a copy to the public.

Your ID is the governments castle

65 millions peoples private lives are to be nationalised by a single man in a suit. Tony Blair is adament that he has a 'mandate' to impose draconian identity 'interviews' and require fingerprints and eye scans from every taxable 'citizen'.

Are we going to let a few lousy terrocrats 'sell' us a license to live and destroy our future and that of our descendents?

Cattle 'cards', rest in peace.
