Second half is an analysis of the ill-fated Australian ID card plans - I really recommend reading this.

Thanks Hex and I second your recommendation.

I'm currently compiling information about ID schemes around the world, particularly those that were opposed. The Australian example above is probably closest to our own scheme and offers some useful pointers... my only reservation is that that we're a year too late.
