Manchester NO2ID has made a submission in response to the Commission on a Bill of Rights discussion paper on whether the UK needs to have a Bill of Rights.
We have made the submission because we believe that the creation of a UK Bill of Rights is highly desirable. Over the past 10 to 15 years we have seen a massive erosion of freedoms and standards of privacy that were once thought of as the inalienable rights of UK citizens. We believe a UK Bill of Rights is an opportunity to reverse this erosion and develop new legal measures to protect us from emerging threats from the database state and the “everyone is a suspect” culture that it has spawned. For this reason we positively welcome the idea of developing a Bill of Rights for the UK.
A copy of our submission document which contains our ideas for what a Bill of Rights should contain is attached below. Please note that this submission represents the views of Manchester NO2ID and not necessarily those of the National campaign, or other NO2ID groups.
