Thanks to Brussels, we are bordering on disaster

Brussels, however, had other ideas. It insisted no EU national should be compelled to abide by these rules and our craven Home Office has capitulated.

Even non-EU nationals will be given a guarantee they can journey to Britain without giving their details, provided they are travelling from an EU state.

In other words, our borders will remain wide open. For the EU bureaucrats, it is a victory to savour. For Britain — justly criticised as being a haven for terrorists and a magnet for illegal immigrants — it is a disaster.

The Govt use problems like terrorism ,illegal immigration or whatever as a pretext to take away more and more of our privacy.
At the end of the day we are left still with the original problem, plus we've lost our privacy. In other words, the Government makes things far worse.
The Press are very largely to blame for this, they egg them on, going on about terrorism, illegal immigration etc, and publish articles demanding that SOMETHING MUST BE DONE by the Govt.
This Daily Mail article is a prime example of this.
Ironically, that same newspaper ran an article when e borders was first introduced earlier last year, saying (quite rightly)that it was an atrocious thing (Stasi-like was the expression they used). Now in this latest article they are saying the very opposite!!!!!!!!!!!

Couldn't help but notice that not only are there no comments on the article, commenting has been disabled. This is most likely to avoid the condemnation of the blatant volte face.

Ha - I guess the Mail looks at it this way:

Stasi-like in/out control system for poor law-abiding Brits: BAD
Stasi-like in/out control system for dirty forrins: GOOD
Stasi-like in/out control system for everyone: BAD...no...GOOD...er - let's just disable the comments, nobody will notice.
