OK, the story itself is far off-topic. However, given that Scotland can achieve this without retaining the DNA of millions of innocent people, it does undermine the arguments for expanding the English and Welsh NDNAD. The simple message would seem to be: more police officers instead of more DNA profiles.
Whether or not more police officers is a desirable target is a different question entirely.
