Post subject: Getting off the DNA database - help need
PostPosted: Wed, 18 Jul 2012 08:56:07 +0000
Hello, I wonder if you can assist me in getting my profile removed from the police database?

I suffer from a mental health condition although have not had any problems for over 5 and a half years. I work fullt-ime and lead a normal life. Before this time I suffered any episode which lead to a non-violent misunderstanding with the police. I was arrested for a public order offence, taken to a police station and my prints and dna swab were taken. I was detained for about 2 hours and released without charge. Since then I have written to a particular unit at the Met Police to ask for my profile to be removed and explained that I suffered from a mental health issue which lead to my arrest. I am a normal, law-abiding citizen and this has been my only encouter with the police. I received a reply saying may case was not 'exceptional', and only exceptional cases would merit profiles being deleted. I attempted on two occasions to get my details removed but got the same reply. Has anyone got any ideas how I can better put forward my case for deletion so my details can be deleted after this misunderstanding.

Many thanks in advance.

C

Hi Andrew,

Thanks for the link. Would you also happen to know if my entry in the Police National Computer can also be deleted or will it be kept indefinitely. The entry lists the date of arrest and states the nature of the offence in brief terms. I was able to get this from the Metropolitan Police following an access request.

Thanks

c
