Liverpool’s Criminal Records Bureau is to gain 200 extra staff in recruitment drive
Jan 18 2010 by Neil Hodgson, Liverpool Daily Post
EXTRA duties for staff at the Liverpool Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) headquarters will create 200 new jobs, LDP Business can reveal.
The work is linked to a shake-up of the rules around the screening of potential employees working with children and vulnerable adults.
There are currently 1,067 staff employed at the CRB’s Princes Dock offices, comprising 667 civil servants and 400 staff with private sector services provider Capita.
A Capital spokeswoman confirmed they have no plans to recruit more staff, so the extra shifts will be provided by the Home Office.
A CRB spokesman declined to confirm or deny the scale of recruitment, but said: “The CRB is currently advertising jobs for an evening shift work which will provide the additional resource required for the launch of the next phase of the Vetting and Barring Scheme in July 2010.”
