Hi all
I am applying for an sia license along with acpo check and both are asking for my passport number to be able to confirm my identity. My understanding is its just the info on my passport that is confirmed ie. name dob pp number etc ? is this true or is more given out like address any name change etc ?

I cant see why they would ask for this when it is not compulsory to have a passport

i agree and whilst the sia will accept other forms of id instead the acpo seem to only want to run a check if i have a valid passport.

The IPS run a passport checking service, so people can phone up and verify that a passport number is valid and hasn't been lost or stolen. Perhaps that's why they want it? A similar service doesn't exist for other forms of ID (which is another reason to avoid using a passport as ID, because of the likelihood that IPS keep records of these checks).
