Lib Dems: Child protection not working properly

The Liberal Democrats have backed a policy motion which aims to protect children and ease the burden on social workers across the UK.

Annette Brooke, the party's children and families spokesperson, told the Bournemouth conference that the child protection system is still not working properly, despite numerous review, reports and reforms.

Brooke repeated the pledge to scrap the ContactPoint database and to use the savings to offer additional administrative and technical support to social workers.
