Government starts ContactPoint pilots and training

Councils in England are taking initial steps to begin use of the government's online directory of children and those looking after them
The Department for Children, Schools and Families said on 26 January 2009 that two officials from every local authority in England will begin the training needed to start operating the system.
In addition, 17 local authorities in the North West and two national voluntary sector organisations, Barnardo's and KIDS, will begin intensive pilots of ContactPoint. Frontline staff in these areas will start training and operating the system in the spring before the pilots are rolled out across the country from the summer.
