The Scottish Executive are having a consultation about giving Scottish police the power to retain DNA, finger prints and photographs of people who have never been convited of a crime. At the moment in Scotland the police take prints, photographs and DNA samples from everyone arrested, but, unlike in England and Wales, if a person is not charged, found not guilty, or given an absolute discharge, the prints, photographs and DNA must be destroyed. More information about this can be found
here. I`ll be taking part, outlining my opposition to these plans and i urge you all to do the same.
