My wife and several of my friends have made a commitment to not getting passports with microchips. Our current passports without chips are due to expire over the next few years. As I understand it, it is virtually impossible now to get a passport without a chip. The citizenships related to the following questions are U.S.A., U.K. and Australia. If anyone has info on those, please let me know.
Does anyone know the following:
1) Can you still get a passport without a biometric chip for any of those countries?
a) if so, how long is it valid for?
2) Can you get a chip-free ALTERNATIVE to a passport? (for example, in Australia you can apparently get a "Document of Identity", though it is usually issued for a specific time and purpose and under special circumstances).
3) Can you travel overseas without a passport or chipped ID?
Any help with these issues would be greatly appreciated.
