What an exasperating experience.....
My experience has been abysmal.
Firstly they have not updated their passport application in the London Passport Office and all their letters still refer to the 'old' policy whereas the officers practice the 'new' policy that nobody outside the passport office knows about!!!!
SERIOUS COMPLAINT TO AMBASSADOR COONEY RECEIVED AN APOLOGY....AND RIGHTLY SO!
Basically, you know how primitive things in Ireland can be? Like divorce, sexuality, success and all those other taboo's that the rest of the western world got over in the sixties. Well now they want you not to forget your old name and treat you like a criminal as if you're doing something dodgy!!!
EVEN with a deed poll name change, they STILL want two years usage or they will only provide a two year passport and then you re-apply two years later for a ten year passport (revenue generating) .....its all about keeping people down as is the usual norm in Ireland

Furthermore they then insist and putting your old name onto the passport too....you know the one that you have RENOUNCED!!!!!
Cool Britannia have come to the rescue with a proper ten year passport, no refernce to old name and no usage needed apart from your deed poll......one very good point about England is that they are always so far ahead on the intellectual front!
PS: Still waiting for a response from the Irish Embassy!!!!
