The Press and Journal: School’s spy camera stolen

Sunday 3 August 2008

Quote:
“Theft leads to call for review of where CCTV is located. Thieves raided a north-east primary school – and walked off with its CCTV camera.”

Seems like the camera attracts crime, as well as deterring it!!!

Quote:
"The missing device is said to be worth more than £1,000. The incident has triggered calls for a review of schools’ security cameras. Last night, a police spokesman urged any witnesses to get in touch. He said: “We believe the school was hit between Friday, July 25 and the following Thursday.”

Dont most CCTV come with time stamp data in corner, to record when the offence occurred and also records the pictures of those taking it? Bit of a clue for PC plod.

Quote:
“One proposal was to erect a talking CCTV system at the school. The device, which would be linked to a loudspeaker, could be used to issue warnings to troublemakers.”

It should shout out loudly ‘Help I am being pinched’! Or fit them with SAT/nav chips!! Another waste of the public purse.

Yes, someone was not happy with the school taking their children's liberties away and spying on them. As if the police are going to get anyone grassing on them! It certainly is a waste of tax payer's money and when the next one is removed and the one after that they had better get their thinking caps on. Schools are gradually being turned into prisons and not everyone is going to agree with it. Some write letters to the local council about it and some don't.
