Post subject: How many bodies? Posted: Thu, 27 Aug 2009 13:51:28 +0000 |

I was thinking a nice line against the NHS database/spine would be:
'Do you really want x government bodies knowing all about yours?
The question is, how many governement bodies would actually have access to your data if the spine was implemented. I heard 13, but it's good to be accurate.
Any idea anyone?

Depends on what you call a government body! There are hundreds of hospital trusts and PCTs, for instance. But surely what's important is the number of people? You could probably say "over one million" without being called a liar.

Hi Rob,
Thanks again for the input.
As you say, the number of people is vital and a million is a good figure, but for the sake of the communication/ad we need to say bodies, as in ‘do you really want hundreds (for example) of government bodies, knowing about yours?’ It scans better. Maybe we can say ‘hundreds’ then?

There are, I think, about 250 NHS trusts, 150 PCTs, and a few dozen other bodies likely to have access. So you'd be safe with "hundreds", yes.

Thanks Rob,
that's great. Now we just need a visual for it and we're off to the races...
