I was just wondering, why moderation has got a bit overzealous of late? If the subject is not strictly ID cards but maybe related to wider information gathering activities (which in turn could be linked up with ID cards or just silly councils abusing powers given to them) seems to either be locked for further discussion or just disappear.

I have visited this site for the past three years and it would seem there has been some very enthusiastic moderation going on in recent months, or is a fall in postings?

Anyway, as a regular visitor I find this very disappointing that discussions are broken off in their infancy and stuff is just removed, what is going on? There doesn't seem to be much to read or discuss these days.

Moderation: Moved from "ID discussion" to "Errors and Suggestions".

Yes, I agree. A case in point would be this thread.

http://forum.no2id.net/viewtopic.php?t=25319

It's about abuse of power, and someone left a comment:

Quote:
The thing I do not understand is why the man was detained for nine hours in a police cell.

When a mod replies:
Quote:
Mod_Note : now well down the off-topic path, so locked

Anyone with more than one braincell would know that this comment is nothing of the sort. However earlier in the thread we get:
Quote:
*notes thread veering off-topic, hints at possible locking/pruning*

After Justin's well put together post outlining what is going on.

This is usually the way it happens, and if I were pro-ID cards and working for the regime and felt uncomfortable about the exposure I would have no problem censoring it. Indeed, it was the only thread yesterday that was encouraging any input. It seriously makes NO2ID mods look like greater control freaks than the regime we are fighting. So lighten up a bit and start treating people like humans, not machines. It shows complete lack of intelligence when mods can't discern the difference between genuine discussion and deliberate vandalism of a thread.

The thread mentioned above was already a long way from 'ID cards and the database state', and was heading even further away from our 'turf' with a distinct air of being on the verge of turning into yet another stack of anti-police posts which I just don't think are particularly helpful to anyone. A number of good points had been made, hence the thread was left intact. Same as per the 'York car crime blitz' one but with less waiting.

The Damian Green arrest (not least the entry into Parliament) is clearly a major issue, but this probably isn't the right place for that particular discussion.

Just to add, answers to all the above concerns are in the forum ground rules here.

I personally am always happy to answer questions about moderation via PM.
