Yes, I agree. A case in point would be this thread.
It's about abuse of power, and someone left a comment:
The thing I do not understand is why the man was detained for nine hours in a police cell.
When a mod replies:
Mod_Note : now well down the off-topic path, so locked
Anyone with more than one braincell would know that this comment is nothing of the sort. However earlier in the thread we get:
*notes thread veering off-topic, hints at possible locking/pruning*

This is usually the way it happens, and if I were pro-ID cards and working for the regime and felt uncomfortable about the exposure I would have no problem censoring it. Indeed, it was the only thread yesterday that was encouraging any input. It seriously makes NO2ID mods look like greater control freaks than the regime we are fighting. So lighten up a bit and start treating people like humans, not machines. It shows complete lack of intelligence when mods can't discern the difference between genuine discussion and deliberate vandalism of a thread.
