Should we allow people to start threads anonymously? There seems to be a growing number of pessimistic and time wasting threads started by 'guest'.
By all means let guests contribute to running threads but to start one, lets require a name.

The same guest (if it is the same) also seems to be exceedingly concerned to drag in irrelevancies about the EU and immigration.

I don't know we should discourage guests, though. Even though most forum discussions do next-to-nothing to advance the campaign (the forum's main value being as a bulletin-board for posting news), locking visitors out would make it seem even more like a talking-shop for an inward-looking clique.

I thought the idea to ask anon users to enter a name each post was a good one - if we can find a decent phpBB plugin.

The good news is that the forums used to be a lot messier than this.

It appears that guests cannot now contribute AT ALL to:

"Articles and Publications",
"Legal Questions",
"ID Discussion",
"NHS Electronic Care Records and 'Spine'",
"Data Sharing",
"Biometrics in Schools" and
"Children's IS Index".

Also, guests can only reply to topics in:

"Questions and Answers",
"Passports" and
"For Your Information".

Is this REALLY how it's meant to be ?

I thought that the whole point of No2ID was the preservation of privacy and if you have to have an ID for No2ID, then isn't that a bit self-defeating?
